day after (untrash the dress) shoot

What a cute and fun way to do a portrait session without ruining your beloved gown!  The bright purple tie is a wonderful touch.

“Almost 10 years ago, their story begun.  At work.  The first time Dan laid eyes on Stephanie, he knew he wanted to marry her.  He even introduced her to his parents as their “future daughter-in-law”.   He asked her out.   She said… no.

He asked her out again.  She said no… again.  And again. 2 years later, Dan’s heroic rescue to Stephanie’s flat tire set up their first date.  A year later, they made a trip to Stephanie’s favorite place- Walt Disney World.  While Dan attempted to remove the sword from the stone… Stephanie issued a challenge.  She said, “If you pull out the sword, I’ll marry you.” After 6 years of dating, Dan decided to ask her father for his daughter’s hand in marriage.

He then planned Stephanie’s perfect “fairy tale” proposal. He brought her back to the same spot and with luck (and a little inside help) Dan was able to remove the sword from the stone. He asked… and she said yes!  Dan and Stephanie began the first chapter of the rest of their lives together and we were lucky enough to capture their story in this amazing day after shoot!”

Thank you so much Clane Gessel Photography for sharing this lovely session.

a fruit themed wedding

Such a creative and unique theme for a wedding- fruit!  I love the interesting touches and splashes of ivory and purple as well.  They incorporated their theme into everything, even their bachelor/ette parties!

“The events leading up to (and including) our wedding were fruit-themed, as represented by the invitations, decorations, and/or catchphrases. Engagement Party: Pears—“The Perfect Pear” Save-the-Date: Apples—“He/she is the apple of my eye.”  Bachelorette Party: Bananas—“Let’s Go Bananas” Bachelor Party: Plums—“Plum Crazy” Rehearsal Dinner (at a Greek Restaurant)—“Olive You” Wedding: Grapes—Color-Purple, Christian Significance-represents charity, which, in scripture, is synonymous with LOVE.

Upon arrival to the site of ceremony, guests were offered hand-made programs with a silhouette of a bride holding a 3-dimensional bunch of ‘grapes’ as a bouquet. Among other hors d’ oeuvres, a cascading display of fruits were available to guests following the ceremony.  Also, during the cocktail hour, guests located their names within acrylic photo-booth picture frames that were embellished with hand-glued half-pearls.  Beside each guests’ name was a fruit that corresponded to the table décor at the reception and indicated their tables within the ballroom.

Once at their tables, the guests then scanned the personalized, hand-made menus for their names, which directed them to the locations of their seats.  The frames doubled as both place-card holders during dinner and party favors afterwards in which the guests could insert their pictures from the photo booth.”

Thank you so much to Havi Frost Photography for submitting this one-of-a-kind wedding.

off the beaten path…

Love this fun engagement session from Taylor Roades Photography.  Honestly, one of my favorite parts of running this blog is seeing all the cool WEBSITES that everyone has.  Since wedding professionals are almost always super-creatives, they can have some of the coolest sites around.  AND, Taylor’s email address starts with “mybestfriendswedding”… ummm, how cool is that?

Anyway, I digress, back to this engagement session.

“This session took place completely off the beaten path in fields and on properties I often drive by.  I was allowed choose the location, which I absolutely loved. Often couples pick the locations – because their friend’s do, or they may have some significance to them (which I love) but when you leave it up to the photographer, you can get shots that no one else will have.  I literally told Navy and Darren to meet me at a corner gas station and follow me in their car.  It worked out better than I could ever imagine.”

jumping the broom

Today I have a gorgeous wedding filled with purple accents, traditions, and most of all, a happy bride and groom.  Jumping the broom is an African-American tradition, and is a symbol of sweeping away the old and welcoming the new, or a symbol of new beginnings.  I love this!

Thank you to Tami Melissa Photography (OMG, I LOVE her website!) for sharing this beautiful wedding with me! “Roberta and Allen met through one of Roberta’s Zeta Phi Beta Sorority sisters, who thought that he was a wonderful guy and just knew they’d hit it off.  After playing a little hard to get, Roberta finally gave him a chance and they found out that their lives had crossed many paths before then.  They became a couple on April 20th, 2009… and three years later on April 20th, 2012, they became husband and wife!  Their ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful Winterthur Museum and Country House.  The overall theme for their wedding was Simply Classis – they are simple people and like to show how beautiful the simple things can be!  They love clean lines and details and wanted their wedding to be unique, intimate and personal.  They even sealed the deal with an African American tradition of jumping the broom after they kissed.”

most unique wedding yet

This has to be my most unique featured wedding to date.  Just gorgeous, different, and beautiful.  The talented (and lucky!) photographer who got to capture all this amazingness was McFadden Studios, out of Fort Bragg, CA.  “This destination wedding was simply perfect.  The bride wore a multi colored dress which was handmade in Victoria, Canada (where they live).  The groom wore linen.  Their rings were made from gold that the bride inherited from her grandmother.  They were wed in a Cathedral of cypress trees in Mendocino barefoot.  Her flowers were delivered to her by surprise from LR Flowers in Mendocin, and she had no idea they were coming.  They had high tea at The Ravens Restaurant at The Stanford Inn, which is known for it’s vegan cuisine and pet friendly lodging.  Red doors, barns, coastal views and flowers everywhere. T he fog rolled in just in time for photos of the bride and groom, and the bride LOVED the haziness of the fog.”

I’m in awe, love it all!
